How to Start and Suceed with a Home Business

No matter who you are, remember everyone starts from ground zero as far as experience is concerned. Building a home business is no different. One will have to lay the foundation first of all which will consist of choosing a product or service, that requires knowledge of what you are trying to sell. You can't help your customer very well if you are unable to fully answer their questions. Do your research so that you may present yourself in a professional manner. This will compliment you in the future.

Learn how to promote your business. The big companies learned this long ago or they would have never become big. If you don't believe me look at the flyers in your mailbox or just open the paper. Advertising is the key to letting the world know that you have something that they need or want. You can not drive down the street with out seeing signs, posters, billboards, or a store window that says 30% off. Remember advertising is your voice, without advertising no one will know you exist. The louder your voice the more that will hear. Isn't that what you want, for them to come to see what you have? Don't whisper, scream to the world!

Now that you have brought the customers into your store whether it be a physical store or an internet site, be excited about your products or service. People love to be around exciting people. It creates an atmosphere in which sales are much easier to make. Let them know that you believe in what you are doing, in other words don't be a fake, customers can sense this and are turned off by it. If there is a warrantee or guarantee let them know this, it will help to make the sale. Always let the customer know that you are going to be there to assist them if any problems arise.

Now you need to establish a customer database, keep in touch with your clients on a regular basis. This is important! Send them advertise-ments, inform them of new products or services that you have added to your business. These steps will help you create confidence with your clients. It is also important to ask them for their feedback and suggestions that might prove to be beneficial to your business. Remember the customer is looking from another vantage point and may be more helpful than you might imagine.

Finally, don't be afraid of change or updating your business when needed. Times and trends change rapidly these days. Technology demands changes and requirements continually. Most of the time it is to our advantage to change with it so that we can meet the needs of an ever changing world and customer demands.

Just as computers and software demands are changing, so are the needs of your clients. The world is always moving and so must you to keep your business healthy and prosperous. By following these basic rules and using good old common sense you can and will have an enjoyable and rewarding business future. You make your own future...so make it bright!

Successful Websites - A 13 Step Process

Anyone can make a website with the availability of free templates, web content management systems or CMS etc. But is that enough? The fact of the matter is that even some professionally done websites are lost in the millions that are there on the world wide web. Why? Because there are few important ingredients missing in them.

Going back to a conversation with a business owner regarding website and development business a few year ago. I was told by him that even his little son could make a website. He told me that web design does not need effort or intelligence and that there is no future in it. I listened to him with interest knowing that this is what many people believe.

So where was this person going wrong like many others?

Consider this, especially if you are a forward thinking business to make your website successful -

1. Even if you get an off-the-shelf template you will have to customize it for your businesses unique identity.

2. You will need to write quality content with search engine optimization or SEO in mind.

3. Website submission to Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista to get the pages indexed in the search engines.

4. Update website content regularly.

5. You will have to spend hours designing a company logo.

6. You will spend hours searching for the right images which you will need to edit and upload.

7. If you have an e-commerce site you will have to take care of uploading products and services, pricing, stock updates etc.

8. Making your business presence on Social Media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ by creating effective business campaigns.

9. Marketing your business online.

10. Taking care of email marketing and opt-in process.

11. How about security issues involving websites?

12. Have you considered that you will have to keep up with the speed at which web technology moves?

13. And how about regular backups of the website so that you do not lose your content?

These are just a few points which you should consider and all the above take time which could be utilised to build-up other parts of the business.

If you think just taking care of website is not enough, think about updating your website content regularly, submitting RSS feeds and not to say the least latest keeping up to date in the social media world like Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Pinterest and more.

At the end of the day anyone can make web pages but can that be turned into a functional website? For a small investment in getting things done professionally via a web agencies you can get great returns from your website.

Finding Coaches and Mentors

When I was in the corporate world, I had mentors from whom I learned. They taught me skills that helped my thought processes, made me a better manager and more.

Since 1994, when I went into business for myself, I have had additional mentors. Some of them I knew. With others I had only online relationships. And there are some people I consider mentors with whom I have never had direct contact.

A mentor is anyone who can help you advance on your journey. It may be someone who takes you under his wing to teach you specific skills or introduce you to others who can help you. I consider anyone from whom I can learn to be a mentor, even if that learning takes place by reading a book or listening to an audio program.

Here are some ways you can learn from mentors:

Create a network of people in your industry. Some may be more advanced than you, while others are still beginners. It is likely, however, that all of you will be able to learn from each other. Even someone new to an industry has knowledge and experience they can share with others, and they may bring a fresh perspective to problem solving. Offer a benefit to someone from whom you want to learn. Would you be willing to volunteer to work for them for a time, in exchange for the experience and knowledge? Could you help them make a contact or reach one of their goals, and develop a mutually-beneficial relationship? Look for online relationships. It is often possible to contact even well-known experts through email. They may be willing to answer a simple question, or steer you in the right direction. When you see someone succeeding, learn from them. Study what they do and how they do. Don't copy them, but learn from them. Do they have skills you need to develop? How can you do so? Many experts and industry leaders share their information through books, CDs, DVDs and other information products. Make it a habit to listen to one CD, take one online course, or read one book a week. (Or more, if you can make the time.)

Once you acquire ideas and inspiration, put them to use. It does no good to spend a lot of time learning if you do not use what you know.

The History of Running Track

Track and field is one of the most popular events of the Olympics. Every year, old records are broken and new narratives emerge in this exciting and ever changing sport. What is the history of running track? It is a long story dating back to the athletic competitions of ancient Greece.

An Ancient Sport

Running goes back to ancient Greece, where foot racing was the one and only event in the original Olympics. In addition to the Olympic Games, the Pan-Hellenic Games allowed runners to compete at regular intervals. The Roman Games of the same era included running, but focused more on wrestling and combat. As far away as Ireland, ancient Europeans competed in foot races in the Tailteann Games. The ability to run was considered a necessary talent in ancient times, especially for warriors.

The Middle Ages

Track continued to be a competitive sport throughout the Middle Ages. In Europe, noble families trained their sons in a variety of athletic skills to enhance their combat abilities. Running was just one of many sports that were featured in competitions of this era. However, the use of horse mounted troops instead of foot soldiers in war took the emphasis off personal speed, instead focusing interest on horsemanship and weapon skills.

The Olympics Revived

In the late eighteenth century, the long and illustrious history of running track and other field sports was recognized, along with the need to revive the traditional Greek games in some form. France's L'Olympiade de la Republique featured a number of ancient sports, with foot running featured prominently among the competition. The metric system was first used at these games to measure and record times, another milestone in the history of running.

Running became more popular throughout the nineteenth century as physical fitness was gradually recognized as the key to health and strength. Schools began including exercise and competitive sports among their classes, creating generation of young athletes capable of competing in track and field.

The Modern Sport

Running was one of the original sports in the 1896 Olympic Games. Although women were excluded until 1928, they quickly took a prominent position in the sport. The sport evolved to its current self, with most activities taking place on a 400 meter oval track. A person who runs track in modern times can choose from any number of events, including sprints, hurdles, middle and long distance races, and relays. Each event has a unique set of ideal characteristics, making running track one of the most diverse and inclusive sports on the planet.

Although the history of running track is long and includes contributions from a variety of cultures, it is by no means complete. As new athletes emerge with every generation and new technologies improve the sport, the history is being written every time runners step onto the field.

Forex Trading Machine Book Review - How To Milk The EUR-USD

Who wouldn't be interested in a forex trading strategy that requires no interpretation or judgment? That is the claim made by Avi Frister in his ebook "Forex Trading Machine."

Curious, I obtained a copy and absorbed the 180 pages within a couple of hours. To be fair, the really interesting stuff begins on page 91, halfway through the book. That is not to say the first 90 pages are filler, not at all. For anyone not well acquainted with the Forex market there is excellent information presenting forex basics in a simple easy to understand style.

For me, having traded the forex for a couple of years now and always curious about different forex trading strategies, the value of this book was found in the last of the 3 strategies Avi Frister explains using price as the signal to enter and exit trades.

The Three Strategies

The first two strategies certainly seem good. However, they did not particularly suit my style of trading. The first one for example requires a fairly large stop loss, beyond what my equity would allow so I didn't give further consideration to it.

The second strategy seems solid. It uses a maximum stop loss of 20 pips and it works particularly well with the GBP-USD and USD-CHF pairs due to their volatility. I tried it a few times with mixed results, certainly not long enough to give it a fair appraisal.

It was the third strategy that caught my eye, named "Flip & Go" by Avi Frister. It focuses on the EUR-USD pair and provides a sound strategy for milking part of the daily 80 or so pip movement of this pair.

I have been using it for the last couple of months and I am pleased with the results. I hesitate to give figures as trading the forex is such an individual area and it is unfair to raise hopes or suggest others will get the same results. Some may get better results, others may not do very well. More on that in a moment. Let's just say I am pleasantly surprised at the consistency of profitable trades and the overall pip gain each month.

Do You Have The Discipline?

Now to address the point raised on why individuals may have such varying results. Avi Frister stresses that the strategies he details in "Forex Trading Machine" are purely mechanical and require no interpretation or judgment. When you read and analyze his strategies he is quite right.

But here is the problem. Probably a relatively small number of persons will have the discipline or have the determination to develop the discipline, to follow the strategies without emotion and without allowing interpretation and judgment to creep in.

After a forex trader has been trading a while, just put any chart in front of him and immediately the eyes start seeing all kinds of trends, patterns, support, resistance lines, candle patterns, etc. Trying to neutralize all these signals that pop out of any chart and just stick to the trading rules outlined in "Forex Trading Machine" will be the greatest challenge.

You may be able to see the exact kind of setup explained in this ebook but if your eyes are observing what appear to be contrary signals, will you have the discipline to suppress your interpretation and just stick to the mechanical, price driven, trading criteria outlined in this book? Therein lies the make or break factor of this ebook.

It's Up To You

In conclusion, this definitely is a forex trading manual of a different kind. As to whether it will make substantial profits for any particular forex trader will depend on their mental discipline and attitude.

Improve the Value of Your Home with Replacement Windows

Many homeowners want to increase the property value of their homes. After all, your house is one of the most expensive investments you are going to make in your lifetime. The difficulty comes in trying to decide what improvements to make. An always-smart choice is to improve or replace the windows. You will seldom go wrong attempting to add value to your home with replacement windows. As well as improving the look of your home, you will probably save on heating bills since good quality replacement windows reduce the amount of heat that escapes.

Give your Home a Face Lift

For a private home, new windows can offer so much. They give the whole exterior of your home a face lift. They also allow a house to have much more curb appeal. Passers-by notice when a house gets new windows. Such a change gives the impression of a clean and neat home. Your home will look as though someone does truly care about it. That is great, especially if you are considering the sale of your home.

Home Advantage

There are several great benefits to giving your home replacement windows. Inside, they allow the true natural light to shine in. Additionally, you should expect a savings in your energy bills. You will notice the cold air from the old windows are gone, so no more getting stiff necks from sitting in a draft. The home will feel more air-tight; that is because it is! Your heating bill will be lower because the heat will stay where it is supposed to - in the house and not out the windows. In the summer, the air conditioner won't run as frequently, again because the windows do not permit hot air to seep in from outside.

The even nicer aspect about replacement windows is the way the interior will look as well. With them, you can really bring out the beauty and elegance of your home. The new windows will allow the light in that accent syour home and its furnishings. It will be more pleasant to greet the day with the sun streaming in.

Value Added

Any real estate agent or appraiser will tell you the one thing you can do to raise the property value of your house is to install beautiful energy-efficient windows. You will notice people tend to avoid the older drafty houses when looking for a home to buy. The expense of renovations is not what typically scares them away. It is the thought of heating the large home. Replacement windows are more energy-efficient than ever before. A home buyer will notice the new windows and recognize the investment is worth it just because of the lower heating and cooling bills.

Earn Money Online Answering Surveys From Free Paid Survey Websites

Another way of earning money online is from answering paid surveys. There are a couple of free to join survey websites which currently pay people to answer surveys which get sent to them, via e-mail. These survey sites usually pay around 3 pounds per 15 minute survey answered.

These survey sites use the information harvested from the survey answers and then send them off to the companies interested. Usually a specific company will go to one of these survey companies and ask them to perform some specified market research for them, and will pay them to get these answers. For example, an airline company like Virgin Atlantic might decide that they want to find out some information about regular flyers experiences with the company. Virgin might come to the survey company and ask them to ask certain questions about flying, and that they will pay them X amount for the answers. The survey company will then send out emails to its users that would fit the given profile (that fly regularly with Virgin). X amount of money will be divided between all the responses from the surveys, and then Virgin will be fed back the survey answers. This is basically how paid survey websites work.

You might wonder how these survey sites decide who they will target with regards to certain aspects of the research. There would be no point in a female clothing brand gathering research from males, for example. All of this information is gathered by the survey company upon joining the website. When you log in to your account for the first time, you will be prompted to fill in a "Basic Interests Profile." This will consist of various questions to do with work, family, hobbies, etc. The more positive answers you leave, the more surveys you can expect to receive - and thus, more money will be earned by you.

The information gathered from the paid surveys is completely confidential, and is not disclosed or sold to other non-specified companies. The questions they ask are usually easy enough to answer, but if you don't feel comfortable responding then you don't have to.

It is worth mentioning at this point that there are hundreds of survey companies that request a payment up front before joining. Never give them any money to join, no matter what they say. These are usually scam sites, and you won't receive any surveys from joining nor will you ever see your membership fee again. The best survey sites are completely free to join, and these are the ones that pay out the most money too.

Answering surveys can be quite an interesting task, and usually they only last 10/15 minutes to respond to. They are sent out a handful of times each week, depending on the interest profile that you filled in. Usually you can earn around 3 pounds per 15 minutes that the survey lasts, with most of the surveys being multiple choice questions.

Obviously answering surveys isn't going to make you rich, but it sure is a nice way of earning a little extra cash every few weeks, for very little time or input on your part.

Formula One - What If the Manufacturers Leave?

In case you haven't notice, the world is going through a tough period. For Formula One, this means many of the manufacturer backed teams are in trouble as retail car sales plummet.

Honda is already out. Renault just received a total of 4 billion from the French government to stay in business. BMW and Mercedes rely on sales in the United States to fund their operations. Toyota is declaring its first loss as a company in practically forever. Ferrari...well, it is doing okay. Still, the prospect of a severe change in landscape for Formula One is not just a possibility, it is turning into a probability.

It costs a lot of money to be in Formula One. That goes without saying. Ron Dennis of McLaren was recently quoted saying the top teams in the sport will spend between $200 and $300 million dollars on just the development of their engines and gearboxes. This doesn't include suspension, chassis or aerodynamic work. As a matter of perspective, the entire budget of a NASCAR team couldn't fund the development of a gearbox on a top Formula One team. That is simply staggering.

So, how do the teams pay for it? Well, the privateer teams simply don't. They lose the race before the first day of the weekend. Instead, they try to finish in the points. The more points that can get, the more money the sanctioning body pays them. This allows them to continue racing. Lose out on the points and money and you are soon out of the sport. At best, you end up with a team like Williams that was once a leader in Formula One and now considers it a good year if it can stagger into the middle of the rankings.

For manufacturers, the sales of cars fund the racing teams. That being said, it takes a ton of sales to make up a $300 million or higher budget. The manufactures supplement their investment by gaining sponsorship from third parties. ING, for instance, was sponsoring Renault and will continue to do so through 2009 before stopping. As a primary sponsor, the banking company pays anywhere between $65 and $120 million to the team. That leaves a lot of cost for Renault to handle on its own.

Sales for car makers are not just down. They have plummeted. The figures are staggering and no manufacturer could have planned for this mess. With the stark economic realities in mind, the idea of spending a few hundred million dollars on a Formula One team seems like a lark. Although the races garner huge television audiences, cutting costs is currently far more important than exposure. This could lead to the exodus of manufacturers from Formula One.

Who could go? The obvious two are Toyota and Renault. Renault was just bailed out by the French government. Toyota has spent billions in Formula One for almost no positive results. Unless things turn around economically, it is hard to see these two teams hanging around. After them, BMW and Mercedes will be leaving if sales in the United States stay depressed. 2009 looks like a brutal year in America, so this could be it for both manufacturers.

And what are we left with? Ferrari is solid. McLaren is a solid team, but will be in trouble if they lose Mercedes. The rest of the field? It will be privateers for as far as the eyes can see down the grid. Even if you love Ferrari, it will be painful to watch them finish 1-2 in every race of the season.
